A classic Adelaide red brick bungalow built in 1925, Project Emily was brought to us as a house that met the clients essential needs but did not allow for a comfortable lifestyle. With household inhabitants fluctuating from 4 to 7 people on any given day, and with only one living area and one bathroom, the spaces were under strain when the house was full of people.
The clients had a single width carport running along the side of the house that was used for overflow storage not for cars. Given that they did not require the carport for its intended purpose, we decided to repurpose the carport to provide the additional spaces they desired including an ensuite, walk in robe and rumpus room / guest room. Not leaving any stone unturned, the existing bathroom and powder room was given an overhaul to bring it aesthetically into the 21st century and increase functionality.
