Project Eloise

A project completed for Foxtel’s TV show Love It or List It, this Melbourne home is a 1950s weatherboard house with great bones. The project brief included creating an additional living area and creatively thinking of ways to bolster their kitchen storage whilst also adding in a casual meals space.

To create an additional multipurpose living space, the unused carport was enclosed, giving the clients a larger dining space for entertaining along with a living space that is well away from the ‘work from home’ areas of the house. Within the new living area there is now a large storage cupboard used for general and seasonal storage plus a small hidden drinks fridge for entertaining!

The new kitchen is predominantly the same footprint as the previous cabinetry. To work within the client's tight budget, plumbing and appliances were kept in their existing locations. The island was also maintained at the same size and location so that floor re-work wasn’t required. We gave the clients an additional tall pantry cupboard, concealed their bins behind cabinetry (they were on the floor previously) and provided a casual meals area for daily use.

The design process helped me to enjoy the selection process and be excited rather than second guess myself. I felt more than comfortable to voice my likes and dislikes which were never a problem. It was also great to be respectfully challenged with new ideas! The process 100% alleviated stress around making selections as there is too much choice.

We definitely ended up with a home way beyond our expectations. We absolutely love the design, the fixtures and fittings, paint colours and furnishings. We would never have chosen what we ended up with and constantly receive compliments about how it all flows and works together.

Working remotely was no issue at all. Samples were sent in the post, communication was as little or as much as was needed. It was fun opening up sample packages or receiving pictures with ideas I would never have thought of. Broadfeather were exceptional with their service, their expertise and to top it off they are lovely people!

If we ever renovate again we will be using Broadfeather Design, even though they are located in a different state. When you find someone in a profession that is as good as Broadfeather Design, there is no need to look elsewhere.
